Two ways to start!

  1. Take inventory by heading to Grocery list
  2. Fill out recipes by heading to Recipes

If you are taking inventory first:

  1. Clear out example items:
    1. Hover over the left of “Name” property and click the box to select all items
    2. Hit the trashcan 🗑️, and you’re set!
  2. Add some items to your grocery list!
    1. To add a single item and enter its details, click ‘Add item’

    2. To add many blank entries, and fill out details later, click ‘Add items in bulk’

Tip: Add items in bulk to quickly give yourself several blank entries at once.

      • Next, fill out remaining properties in the ‘Add’ view.
      • I recommend adding single items by ‘Add item’ where you can easily fill out remaining details

    3. Categorize items with blank Aisle or Status properties, and you’re all set!

  3. Fill out recipes database! (See If you are starting with recipes:)

If you are starting with recipes:

  1. Clear out example recipes:
    1. Hover over the left of “Name” property and click the box to select all recipes
    2. Hit the trashcan 🗑️, and you’re set!
  2. Add recipe via button:
    1. Click ‘Add recipe’ to open a blank recipe entry in sidepeek

    2. Fill your recipe’s ingredients by clicking on the empty slot for Ingredients, and typing in the ingredients needed for that recipe.

      1. Go through the ingredients and add remaining details by clicking on each item (this opens the detailed page for the ingredient)

Tip: If you are starting with recipes (not inventory), your items will not have details by default.

        • To add details, click on the item to open that item’s page and fill out aisle and status properties

    3. After having filled out ingredients, you will see the status ‘Rollup’ property fill out, and all that’s left is adding a URL if applicable, and planning your meal in the last step!

Last step! Meal planning

Now that you’ve got your two main databases filled out: and Recipes, you can start planning your meals for the next three days quite quickly!

Let’s head to the Meal planner page!

  1. Click ‘Add today’s meals’ and select the recipes you’d like to include for each meal - Breakfast, Lunch, Snack, and Dinner.
    1. You’ll see that Ingredients needed populates automatically with the ingredients for that meal!
  2. To add ‘tomorrow’ and ‘day after next’ meals, repeat this process with the next two buttons!
